What is HIPAA LINK
Video visits your clients join from a link, with nothing to install and no account to create.
- Who can use it
- All staff
HIPAA LINK gives you a room with a permanent web address. You send a client the link, they open it and type their name, and they wait there until you bring them into the call.
Everything happens in a browser. Your client installs nothing, creates no account and remembers no password.
The waiting room is the idea
A client who opens your link does not ring you and does not walk in. They check in, and you see them appear in a queue.
That gap is what makes the rest work. You finish with whoever you are with, look at who is waiting and for how long, and start the call when you are ready. Nobody interrupts a session, and nobody is left wondering whether they are in the right place.
What a visit can include
Beyond talking, a session can carry screen sharing, a shared whiteboard, chat and file sharing, EMDR, games, consent forms and clinical assessments, and notes written for you from the conversation.
Which of those you have depends on your plan and on what a clinic admin has turned on. See What is on the free plan.
Security and privacy
HIPAA LINK only keeps client information when you use a feature that needs it, only for as long as it needs it, and always under our Business Associate Agreement.
Every session is encrypted. Sessions connect peer-to-peer between you and your client whenever the network allows. When a network blocks a direct connection, or when group calling is on, sessions route through secure servers and stay encrypted the whole way.
A Business Associate Agreement is included on every plan, including Free, and you create it yourself in a minute.
HIPAA LINK is not an EMR and is not your record system. The clinical record stays wherever your practice keeps it.
