How can we help?

Run a clinical assessment

Have a client complete a standard measure during the visit.

Who can use it
All staff

Open More and select Assessments. Manage clinical assessments that clients complete before or during a video session. Eight built-in assessment instruments are included, and you can create custom assessments using HIPAA LINK's Form Builder.

  1. Choose the participant.
  2. Choose the assessment.
  3. Send it.

They complete it on their own screen while you wait, and you see the result when they finish.

Choosing a measure

A dialog headed Choose Assessment, reading Select a clinical assessment to administer. Below dropdowns for Form Provider and Client Term is a scrolling list: ASRS-v1.1 Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale, AUDIT Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test, C-SSRS Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale carrying a Clinician Use badge, GAD-7 Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, MDQ Mood Disorder Questionnaire, and PCL-5.
Each measure is listed by its short name and its full title. The list scrolls past the bottom.

One of them is marked for clinician use. That is the suicide severity scale, which is administered by you rather than handed to the client to fill in alone.

Filling it in

A GAD-7 assessment headed Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale. Mode buttons read Self-Paced, Guided and Follow, and a badge reads All fields complete. Two step pills, Patient Info and Assessment, both show ticks. A Patient Information block holds a name and date of birth, with a read-only field for todays date and time. Below is the question Over the last 2 weeks, how often have you been bothered by any of the following problems, and a grid of questions against four columns: Not at all, Several days, More than half the days, and Nearly every day.
The measure keeps its own wording and its own four-point scale. Today date and time is filled in for you and cannot be edited.

The measure is reproduced as published: the same question wording and the same response options, so the score means what the measure says it means. The modes at the top work as they do for consent, deciding whether the client works alone, you lead, or you follow their screen.

The score

A panel headed Assessment Complete showing a score of 15 out of 21 and a red badge reading Severe Anxiety. A scoring guide lists 0 to 4 Minimal Anxiety, 5 to 9 Mild Anxiety, 10 to 14 Moderate Anxiety and 15 to 21 Severe Anxiety. A Download PDF button follows, with Back and End Assessment beneath it.
The score, the band it falls in, and the bands either side of it.

The score is given with the band it falls in and the whole scoring guide beside it, so the number is interpretable without looking the measure up.

If you cannot find it

Clinical Assessments is an organization setting, under Account Settings › Assessments, and a clinic admin sets it. There are two switches and they work in order:

  • Activate feature turns assessments on for the clinic. Until it is on, nobody has them, and the second switch reads Activate first.
  • Allow staff access decides who may use them. When enabled, all staff members can administer assessments. When disabled, only administrators can.

For information about Assessments, contact your administrator.
